About Our High-Distraction Dog Training

Does your dog lose focus the moment another dog walks by, a squirrel darts across the yard, or people pass nearby? You’re not alone. Many dogs struggle to listen when exciting distractions are present. At Sit Means Sit, our High-Distraction Dog Training program is designed to help your dog stay attentive and responsive, even in busy, unpredictable environments. The result is a more reliable companion and greater confidence every time you head out together.

Our High-Distraction Dog Training Includes

  • Strengthening Attention & Engagement: We teach your dog to focus on you first, creating a strong foundation that makes obedience more dependable in distracting situations.
  • Reward-Based Learning: By reinforcing the behaviors you want to see, we help your dog understand that paying attention and following commands is rewarding—even when temptations are nearby.
  • Progressive Real-World Training: As your dog gains confidence, we’ll practice in increasingly challenging locations such as parks, sidewalks, pet-friendly stores, and other public settings where distractions naturally occur.
  • Building Lasting Confidence: Our training helps dogs learn how to remain calm, composed, and responsive in everyday situations, giving both you and your dog the confidence to enjoy more adventures together.

Whether you’re taking a walk through your neighborhood, visiting a local park, or enjoying a meal on a pet-friendly patio, our proven training methods can help your dog stay focused when it matters most. Contact us today to learn how we can help your dog become a more obedient, reliable companion.

Sit Means Sit has been such a great experience! We have 2 mini dachshunds that have big personalities. They were terrible on leashed walks and barked at everything and any little noise. Since our training, we have seen such an improvement in both of their leash skills and the barking is so much more under control. They have gained new skills and now we can enjoy our time spent on walks and out in public. They aren’t perfect yet, but with our continued group classes we know they soon will be!

I’ve been a customer for over five years, and I can’t say enough great things about Sit Means Sit. In 2025, I had to take a break from group classes due to a very busy work schedule. By January, it was clear how much we had missed it—my German Shepherd had started to slack off. She was less attentive to commands, began interpreting them her own way, and even picked up a few new habits I hadn’t seen before.

Signing back up was the best decision! The difference has been incredible. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit, and especially Nick, Natalie, Meghan, and Ashley. They don’t just train the dogs—they truly train the owners too. I’ve learned so much, and it has made all the difference.

My dog is off-leash often now, and I know that’s thanks to their dedication and expert training. Thank you all! And needless to say, I don’t think we’ll be taking another break anytime soon.
