What our customers had to say about their experience with Sit Means Sit.

Sit Means Sit has been such a great experience! We have 2 mini dachshunds that have big personalities. They were terrible on leashed walks and barked at everything and any little noise. Since our training, we have seen such an improvement in both of their leash skills and the barking is so much more under control. They have gained new skills and now we can enjoy our time spent on walks and out in public. They aren’t perfect yet, but with our continued group classes we know they soon will be!

I’ve been a customer for over five years, and I can’t say enough great things about Sit Means Sit. In 2025, I had to take a break from group classes due to a very busy work schedule. By January, it was clear how much we had missed it—my German Shepherd had started to slack off. She was less attentive to commands, began interpreting them her own way, and even picked up a few new habits I hadn’t seen before.
Signing back up was the best decision! The difference has been incredible. I highly recommend Sit Means Sit, and especially Nick, Natalie, Meghan, and Ashley. They don’t just train the dogs—they truly train the owners too. I’ve learned so much, and it has made all the difference.
My dog is off-leash often now, and I know that’s thanks to their dedication and expert training. Thank you all! And needless to say, I don’t think we’ll be taking another break anytime soon.

We brought our 8 year old lab-aussie mix to Sit Means Sit day training. She’s a good girl but had some nervous behavior and selective listening skills. We noticed a turn around in her behavior just after one class. After finishing her 6 classes she listens, happier and more confident. We are so proud of our sweet girl and thankful for all the kind people at Sit Means Sit.

I had my rescue trained about 8 years ago and was thrilled with her progress. Immersion training was great and group classes reinforced the learning. Classes were as helpful to me as they were for my dog. I live 3 hrs away now but called Nick asking for help/suggestions relating to a family members dog. Nick answered my questions and provided info to help with decisions/actions that are needed. I continue to trust Sit Means Sit. They are amazing with all dogs and people!

Sit Means Sit staff offers exceptional training. Our Golden Retriever puppy went through puppy school and finished up in their two week Immersion program. The staff is well trained, they are helpful and kind. Their commitment followed through from puppy to our family needs. They focus not only on individualized training for our dog but also educating the owners for best results. We have seen so much improvement at home and in public with our dog, and will continue coming to weekly group classes until mastery.

I have been a client of SMS for over a decade! I started with SMS over 10 years ago with my two rescue dogs that I adopted. One was a puppy, the other was about a year old. I had a great experience in puppy class with my boy, so I signed my girl up for classes too. Both dogs went through private lessons and then group classes.
The group classes are awesome! It was incredibly beneficial to work with my dogs on their commands in an environment with other dogs\owners doing the same. It provided a safe space with healthy distractions. I recently brought a new puppy into my home, and couldn’t wait to start her with SMS. She finished her puppy classes with Amy and Monica.
The puppy classes were great for socialization. Freddy was able to meet new puppy friends, get familiar being handled by other people, exposed to new surfaces\sounds\items to help feed curiosity and create resilience, and so much more. You can really tell they care about creating a well rounded dog.
This week is another big week for us. Freddy starts her Day Training! I love the structure of this program. Freddy will work with the trainers a couple days a week at the facility, and then I get to work with her on the things she’s learned in-between those lessons. I signed her up for Body Mind Dog’s ‘Fit Dog’ classes with Amy as well. Spend a few minutes listening to Amy and you will see the passion and extensive knowledge she has regarding the health and wellness of dogs.
I know it’s not always easy to know who to trust with your dogs which is why I felt compelled to write this review. I have met so many of the trainers up there and have had great experiences! Check them out! I’ve included pics of my Triton and Abby “Placing” all over, and a pic of my Winifred when she graduated puppy class!

I can’t say enough great things about Sit Means Sit! I first enrolled my lab/pit mix in their puppy program and then a few months later he stayed with them for their 2-week board and train immersion program. His training is ongoing, but the results have already been incredible. He’s super energetic, easily distracted, and a total goofball—but thanks to Megan’s expert training, he’s made huge progress in just a short time.
What’s even better is that the training didn’t stop after the two weeks. We’ve been continuing the work at home, and with their trainers ongoing guidance and follow-up support, he is really doing well.
The whole staff has been fantastic throughout the process—knowledgeable, supportive, and clearly passionate about what they do. My pup is still the hilarious, playful dog we love, but with their help, he’s building a solid foundation of obedience and self-control. I’m so grateful for everything Sit Means Sit and Meghan have done for us and our pup—highly recommend.

I love the goal of training your dog so that she can join you on as many family outings as possible. Our dog’s trainers, Alvie and Megan, have been wonderful to work with and have trained both our canine and us 😀 the entire team has really been very responsive and great to work with. Right away our dog made significant progress on her goals (harmony with feline, eliminate play nipping, heeling on leash, getting into things), and we felt empowered as owners to continue the training at home with her. Midway through immersion training we were able to bring her with us on a 2-mile fundraising walk in downtown Detroit. She walked alongside a large throng of people and other dogs, and even remained attentive through blaring music and loud sirens etc. It’s truly a dream come true to be able to take our furry family member with us almost anywhere. The cost is definitely premium compared to other programs; however, it is effective and you are equipped to maintain the training for the life of your pet. Depending on your package you also have access to additional refresher and maintenance lessons! Thank you Sit means Sit! 🙂

Excellent training staff and facilities. Nick and his team really did an amazing job training our dog Rex. Shopped around at first and could not find a location that would put the time and effort into training Rex like Sit Means Sit did. At one point we were not even able to use a kennels for care if we were going to be out of town. Rex is now able to be kenneled at multiple locations and most importantly we do not have to worry about him being aggressive with others.

Sit means sit has been the best dog training I have experienced. I have two polar opposite dogs – 1 happy go lucky golden and 1 not so friendly mini Aussie mix and SMS has really helped with how to deal with all different temperaments. We love coming every week to dog training as the trainers and dog handlers all love what they do!
